Modern Engineering Technology Experimental Training Center
The Modern Engineering Technology Experimental Training Center of the School of Medical Devices relies on the interdisciplinary development layout of the college, and strives to promote the construction of a “healthy new engineering discipline”. The Experimental Training Center fully utilizes high-quality resources such as national level courses, first-class undergraduate courses in Shanghai, and international joint laboratories, deeply integrates medical engineering expertise, continuously deepens teaching reforms, and constructs a distinctive and innovative experimental curriculum system. Through diversified teaching modes such as experimental teaching, engineering training, and participation in scientific research projects, we vigorously cultivate composite talents who integrate medicine and engineering.
The Experimental Training Center currently has 6 basic teaching laboratories, 13 professional laboratories, and 3 comprehensive laboratories. Each laboratory offers over 300 experimental projects annually, with an annual usage of over 150000 “person · hours”. Including international joint characteristic laboratories, such as the Nipro Hemodialysis Technology Laboratory in Japan, which covers an area of nearly 200 square meters and has a total investment of 20 million yuan. It is divided into a water treatment room, an operation skills training room, and a maintenance training classroom, equipped with the most advanced water treatment equipment, the most advanced hemodialysis environment design, and a unified hemodialysis safety management network software. This laboratory is currently a first-class hemodialysis engineering technology laboratory in China. In addition, there is the Stryker Surgical and Emergency Engineering Technology Laboratory in the United States, which represents the most advanced level of surgical and emergency equipment in the world. The platform is divided into two levels, each with an area of about 200 square meters and a total investment of 12 million yuan. It is equipped with four major teaching areas: pre-hospital emergency, in-hospital transfer, ICU intensive care and delivery room, conventional operating room, and integrated operating room. Clinical needs analysis and teaching and practice in related fields can be conducted in each area. The integrated operating room area integrates advanced technologies such as surgical equipment and interactive control of multiple devices, full HD image chain, audio and video image storage and management, remote consultation and teaching. At present, the college is collaborating with Runda Medical to establish the “Shanghai University of Medicine & Health Sciences - Runda Medical IVD Engineering Technology Laboratory, jointly building a new platform for practical teaching cooperation.
The Experimental Training Center has established cooperative relationships with more than 20 stable internship bases, including Shanghai Medical Device Inspection and Research Institute, Shanghai Toujing Life Science and Technology Co., Ltd., Renji Hospital affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shanghai Tongren Hospital, Shanghai Chest Hospital, Tongji University Affiliated Oriental Hospital, and Osaka Ziqing Academy in Japan. In addition, the Experimental Training Center actively promotes students to participate in more than 30 competitions, including the China International College Student Innovation Competition, and has achieved excellent results. The laboratory is open with “24/7”, becoming a high-quality innovation talent cradle that integrates teaching, practice, and scientific research.
